What to do when the prescription doesn't work

Welcome!  Did I hear you scream for help?  Relax, you're among friends.  This writer recognizes your pain and confusion only too well.  Been there!

Well, where to start?  I've organized this website in a rather unique way, as you can see by the list to the left.  Wherever you have your itch or pain, just click on that body part on the list and you'll be inundated - nay, overwhelmed - with suggestions that have been proven to work for somebody at some time.  If you try one and it doesn't work for you, come on back and try something else.  One small caution - please try just one at a time so that you will know beyond a doubt just which one did it for you and you can repeat it.  That said, now I have to throw in the mandatory disclaimer to satisfy the "official" healers.

As far as I know, the FDA, FTC and AMA have not assessed any of these suggestions.  They are not intended to diagnose your illness and are not guaranteed to heal, cure or even make you feel better.  On the other hand, most of them have been in use for thousands of years and a lot of people swear by them.

I should also inform you that I am not a doctor, nurse or even a nanny.  I'm just someone who is disgusted by the way the pharmaceutical companies have taken over the medical profession.  Whenever I hear a commercial for the latest and greatest "cure" for what ails you, I giggle all the way through the list of horrendous side effects.  It takes a lot of chutzpah to tell somebody to take your sure cure even though it will probably eat your lungs from the inside out or give you a double dose of the illness you're trying to get rid of.

I used to blame the doctors for prescribing these miracle medicines but I'm a bit more forgiving these days.  I've found out that the medical schools are - shall we say - subsidized and sponsored by the pharmaceutical companies.  They teach students that healing comes only through prescribing their medicines.  I learned a long time ago that Nutrition is an optional class and there's no time left to take it after the mandatory courses.

Then, too, the insurance companies mandate how a patient shall be treated and for how long.  The doctor is limited to a prescribed course of treatment even if it doesn't work for a particular patient.  The doctor is also restricted as to how much time he can give to a patient during an office visit.  How do you get to know someone's problems when you can give him or her only fifteen minutes or less each time you see that patient?

Also we have the big problem of the profitability of the pharmaceutical companies, the insurance companies and even some (many?) of the doctors.  Cancer is an extremely lucrative business; so is heart disease, and any other disease you care to mention.  Why would you want to put yourself out of business?  Medications don't heal; they lead to more and more medications.  You must take this to counteract the original medicine.  Then you'll need something else to correct that one.  Medicine is a self-perpetuating business.

On top of that, you've seen the detail men and women who come into your doctor's office with a huge briefcase.  That case is full of samples of the latest miracles to come out of the company lab.  "Oh, and by the way, doctor, we're offering an all-expenses-paid vacation in the Caribbean for you and your wife if you're the highest-prescribing physician of this new, wonderful, killer cure!"  You can't make much money any more as a doctor (have you seen what they charge for malpractice insurance?) so, sure, the poor physician is gonna go for it, if only to give his long-suffering wife a nice vacation.

I've been passionate about seeking out alternative treatments since my thirties when I came down with rheumatoid arthritis, hypothyroidism, the inability to digest nutrients from my food, a lump that felt like a rock in my leg and a bunch of broken blood vessels in my feet. All told, I had five "incurable" diseases.  After years of agony, and just plain feeling lousy all the time in spite of the best my doctor could do for me, I finally cured them all, and quickly, with - guess what?-vitamins and minerals.

Now I'm in my eighties and in really good health unlike most of the people in my age group.  I have a problem with degenerative disk disease and I'm looking for something that will fix it.  This is a deterioration of the cushioning disks between vertebrae.  I have a lead on something but I want to check it out thoroughly before setting it before you with my full approval.  It has to work for more than one person, it has to be fairly inexpensive, and it has to be safe with no evil side effects.  I'll make sure you know the source of the data, too.

I'm offering a free monthly emailed newsletter with the latest news culled from all the newsletters I subscribe to.  Just click on Registration on that ribbon up there to sign up for it.  Thanks for introducing yourself.  By the way, my name is Jean Newbold.  How do you do?

Okay, now that we've met and you have some idea why I'm doing this, what do you say we get to know this website and how to navigate it?  You're on the Home Page.  If you want to get an overview of the human body, what it does, and how to take good care of it, click on General.  If the problem is in your head, be it headache, earache, toothache, click on - what else? - Head.  Ingrown toenail? Click on Foot.  See how easy it is?  Upper Torso covers everything from the lower end of the neck down to the waist - back, front, inside and out.  Likewise, Lower Torso covers everything, inside and out, from the waist to the pelvis,  including the hips because they are connected to the spine and pelvis.  Okay, you've got the idea now, so go check it out.  I think you'll find it's a lot of fun.  Just don't forget it's also quite serious.  I believe you're going to find something that helps.  And if you like what you see, don't forget to sign up for my newsletter.  How about making us one of your "Favorites" so you don't have to remember the address?

I'd like to hear about your favorite way to treat that annoying whatever-it-is.  Just blog it in right here.  Please let us know who you are and where you hail from.
